Marie Kondo's new Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, premiered on New Year's Day. Since she burst onto the scene with her best-selling book in 2015, Marie and her techniques, known as the KonMari method, have entered the cultural vernacular. Perhaps you've heard her most famous rule for tossing old stuff: if it doesn't spark joy, get rid of it.
Now that Marie has leapt off the page and onto Netflix, viewers have taken to social media to point out just how difficult letting go of your belongings is—yes, even if you haven't used said item in years. Here are some of the best jokes people have made on Twitter:
The only thing better than laughing over these memes is actually watching the show, which is available to stream now on Netflix.
Word to the wise: While tidying up can be, indeed, a life-changing experience, don't be too vigorous in your purging. Consider that some objects, like old beanie babies or original VHS tapes, may now be worth a pretty penny. Why hasn't Marie ever considered that extra $$ also sparks joy, huh?
