Chip and Joanna Gaines aren't the only husband-and-wife team creating amazing homes in Texas. Jon Meier and Kristen Flowers are also fixing up beautiful country dwellings in the Lone Star State —but with upcycled shipping containers at the heart of their projects.

The couple's Houston-based company, Backcountry Containers, designs and builds surprisingly stylish shipping container homes featuring all the perks and modern amenities you'd find in a traditional new build. Starting at around $65,000, the extraordinary homes are known for their signature design element: Stunning rooftop decks.

Jon, a former aeronautical engineer who now specializes in construction, and Kristen, who handles the interior design, launched Backcountry Containers in 2016. Their company creates everything from basic, single container homes to custom, multi-floor luxury abodes.

You may even recognize the designs from their DIY Network show Containables, which has showcased mountain homes, modern farmhouses, backyard workshops, and other one-of-a-kind builds all made from 20- and 40-foot containers.

Since it's relatively easy to move their structures, it's possible to work with Backcountry to design the shipping container home of your dreams and they'll ship it to wherever you'd like — the mountains, near the beach, or even your own backyard.
