Call it the Chip and Joanna Gaines effect: Even something as simple as an Instagram of their private lives can launch a trend. The day Joanna posted a photo of her newborn son, Crew, settled into his nursery — all swaddled and cozy in his baby bouncer — her Instagram comments went wild, both with oohs and ahhs over the couple's newest addition to the family, and people asking where they could buy that rocker.
Within 24 hours, the Charlie Crane Levo baby bouncer was listed as sold out on , and while it soon came back listed for preorder, the soonest you could get one shipped is July 20. if you want a beech or walnut-colored model with a white cushion like Crew's. also lists the bouncer in stock, but it'll take about 8-10 weeks to ship your way.
However, all hope is not lost, new moms and mamas-to-be: has five designs in stock, and you can get one shipped in 2-4 weeks. Chip Gaines is a man of his word: When he says he'll , he does it; when he sets off to he rocks a tool belt as he jogs all the way to the finish line. And when he says the nursery his wife, Joanna Gaines, designed for their fifth child, Crew, is going to be the most beautiful room in the house, he wasn't kidding.
The couple's dropped hints for months about how the room might look, but this weekend, Joanna shared the first glimpse of the room — and it doesn't disappoint. Like she told earlier this year, she went with a darker shade of paint that looks like a steely blue-gray, rather than the typical pastel shades you might associate with a nursery. (So, to confirm: Crew's barely a week old and has more swagger than the rest of us.)
"I want the room to feel cozy with warm contrasts in colors and textures," Jo told the magazine. Mission accomplished: The dark wood dresser has a mid-century modern vibe, there's a matte black crib (because would this even be a Gaines project without matte black something?!), gauzy white curtains, and a plush, textured white fringe rug to keep things from feeling cold. Oh, and there's a massive fiddle leaf fig, following that designer adage that every room needs something green in it.
But the one piece of furniture that had Joanna's Instagram followers and celebs alike going wild is the rocker Crew's sleeping in. The pale wood, sleek rocker is unlike anything you'd see at Buy Buy Baby; it's got serious Scandinavian style and immediately had people commenting up a storm, asking where they could buy it.
"Where can I get a grown-up version of this?" Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt asked, tagging girlfriend (and Houston Dash women's soccer team captain) Kealia Ohai in the comment. It immediately prompted 74 replies, as well as dozens of other comments from people trying to get their hands on one.
Well, J.J. and everyone else, we've got good news and bad news. First, the bad: It doesn't come in adult sizes, so you might have to settle for a similarly styled to fit bodies that are, you know, taller than 30 inches.
Now, the good: We're 99.9 percent sure that's a Levo Baby Bouncer from Charlie Crane. The design comes in multiple colors — both for the wooden base and the fabric cushion — so you can customize it to your liking. It's sold out at , but you can still score one (in several styles) at Smallable.
At $239, the bouncer's definitely an investment, but it could have serious resell value, especially if Joanna starts a trend. And, based on her track record — and people's reactions so far — we'd bet money she will.
