There's so much to look forward to on the small screen in the upcoming months, including on Freeform and Hallmark's brand new queue of . But now we've really got something to be thankful for: the exciting Turkey Day entertainment that will be airing on PBS.
A new movie based on the first book in the Anne of Green Gables series will premiere on PBS on Thanksgiving night, followed by the 2005 version of the movie Pollyanna, another childhood favorite. The holiday programming will begin at 8 p.m., just in time for your post-feast couch collapse.
Both movies are based on beloved children's novels that revolve around orphaned characters and their new beginnings. As fans know, Anne of Green Gables tells the story of adventurous Anne who is sent to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, a strict sister and a fun-loving brother. This adaption will star renowned actor Martin Sheen as Matthew.
"These two films are great examples of the quality, family-friendly programming PBS strives to provide during the holiday season and all year long," Beth Hope, PBS's Chief Programming Executive said in a press release. You can watch the trailer for PBS' Anne of Green Gables adaptation here:
