According to a December 5 , Starbucks is opening the “first fully immersive coffee experience in Asia” tomorrow. The new Shanghai location (which is 30,000-square-feet and features many coffee bars, one of which is 88 feet long) will officially be the biggest in the world.
The location is actually only the second Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the world: the first opened three years ago in Seattle. This one is different because it not only serves coffee, but it’s also a “multi-sensory coffee experience” in which people can point their phones at different things in the space and learn more about it via an augmented reality app from Alibaba, as pictured below.
According to , Starbucks already has more than 600 stores in Shanghai — and another 2,400 throughout China — but this particular location on West Nanjing Road, a major shopping destination, is ideal for a bigger, more immersive space.
Anyway, enough shop talk about coffee shops. Let's go!
