Chip and Joanna Gaines have been hunkering down with their family since the arrival of their fifth child, Crew, in June. Along with welcoming the newest addition to their Waco, Texas farmhouse, the Fixer Upper stars are also revealing a few of their favorite traditions they've shared with each of their kids, who also include Drake, Ella, Duke, and Emmie Kay.
From one-of-a-kind gifts to weekly activities, here are 10 of the most heartwarming Gaines pastimes that will inspire you to start a few cute customs of your own.
1. Crafting homemade gifts and cards
Birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions (like Chip's marathon training) call for one thing in the Gaines household: handmade presents. “The kids always pour their little hearts into homemade gifts," Chip told CountryLiving.com. “I really believe that I am the luckiest guy in the world to father[now five] beautiful babies."
2. Holding on to hospital bracelets
Another sweet fatherly rule Chip abides by is wearing his babies' hospital bracelets long after they have returned home. "Chip started a tradition with Drake where he wore the hospital bracelet until it fell off," Joanna wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her husband showing off his paper bangle. "Looks like the tradition lives on."
3. Keeping baby clothes and momentos
Last year, Joanna created the cutest keepsakes for her kids: Memory boxes for each child stored in clear fabric bins, filled with their baby items and a handwritten letter. "I finally packed my favorite baby clothes and shoes for each kid," she said. "I wrote them a note for later in case they are sentimental like their mama."

4. Honoring the kids in their businesses
Though they're still young, Chip and Joanna have already found ways to include their children in their home improvement empire. At their new Magnolia Table restaurant, visitors will find special menu items like "Ella's Dipping Donuts" and "Emmie's Grilled Cheese." The same goes for Joanna's paint line with Kilz. The collection features four hues named, "Ella Rose," "Emmie's Room," "Duke Gray," and "Sir Drake." We're sure it won't be long before Crew is included!
5. Baking biscuits on the weekends
Rather than heading out for breakfast, the Gaineses tend to stay in and enjoy a big batch of homemade biscuits on Saturdays and Sundays. In fact, the tradition came about as Joanna was trying to perfect her recipe for her Magnolia Table cookbook and needed a group of regular taste testers to try to latest batch. It turned into a family project, and then become a regular weekend activity.

6. Pitching in at the job site
Fixer Upper fans will likely remember this sweet tradition that made it into nearly every episode of the series. The night before the big reveal, Chip made it a habit to bring everyone by their project to help their mom decorate for the new homeowners. "My little work buddy," she captioned this behind-the-scenes photo with son Duke.
7. Cooking during the holidays
Like so many other families, the Gaineses take time each holiday season to whip up special treats for their loved ones. In this photo, her impressive Christmas tree is upstaged only by the counter full of homemade candy that she made with help from her daughter.
8. Shopping on Black Friday
While the girls prefer to spend their seasonal celebrations whipping up sweet treats, the boys are all about that Black Friday shopping. Chip wrote he and his sons "have made a tradition" of scouring the stores for deals during the post-Thanksgiving event. Perhaps this year they'll bring along Crew!
9. Revealing projects to the family first
The husband-and-wife team have made it a habit to show off their personal ventures to the kiddos first. Fans got to see this twice during Fixer Upper, first with the reveal of the Silos Baking Co., and the again when they opened the doors of Magnolia Table.
10. Serving breakfast in bed
Several times a year—including Mother's Day—Chip and the kids whip up a big breakfast for Joanna to enjoy in bed. "The kids love to help, and there’s really nothing better than my four babies bringing in a platter of dad’s breakfast before I’ve even set foot out of bed," Joanna wrote on the Magnolia Market blog. "It’s nice to be spoiled every now and then, and this is one of my very favorite ways Chip serves me and the kiddos."
