If you're one of those people who stays in hotels and doesn't take anything, then you're a more disciplined person than most (but you're probably lying). How can you resist stocking up on mini shampoo bottles and slippers that make you feel like you're walking on a cloud? You paid for the room—you might as well pull a Ross and Chandler from Friends and stock up on all of the amenities, too.
One hotel is taking this concept to a new level: They want to reward you for returning the valuable items you've stolen—even bigger, more meaningful items than the usual travel-sized toiletries. The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is celebrating its 125th birthday by inviting guests to partake in a little scavenger hunt for stolen goods to win the ultimate prize.
“The person that offers up the most outrageous stolen item from our hotel—between now and July 1, 2019—will receive seven free nights in our Presidential Suite, along with free private dinners cooked by the executive chef, and spa experiences,” General Manager Tod Chambers told . The entire package adds up to be worth around $15,000 for the entire week.
“We will accept any item from any time period in the building’s hotel history for our Historic Giveback Contest. We want to celebrate her entire past," said Chambers."And, we plan to display the items people send to us in window cases in the lobby. We will return items to their owners after a big ceremony in July, if they wish.”
According to the hotel's website, items such as a plate from the Blue Room, Roosevelt Reviews from the 1950s, invoices from the 1940s, menus and postcards have already been returned—so you better get a move on. The hotel is accepting submissions until July 1.
