When Netflix broke the tragic news that Friends would officially be leaving the streaming service in early 2020, fans were more upset than when Rachel and Ross dramatically broke up. If you haven’t been re-watching your favorite episodes on loop, Frontier Communications is now giving you an amazing reason to do so. To celebrate Friends’ 25th anniversary, which first premiered on September 22, 1994, the company is paying one fan $1,000 to binge-watch 25 hours of the sitcom.
The ideal Friends superfan is organized, detail-oriented with an active Twitter account and following, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of at least 18 years or older.
Through Tuesday, September 3, apply for the chance to live-tweet as you watch 60 episodes of Friends and be paid $1,000 for your hard work. Once you’ve completed the TV marathon of a lifetime, you’ll tweet a picture of yourself celebrating the day of September 22 with your own gang!
“This job is for any self-proclaimed die-hard Friends superfan looking to prove their salt,” reads the Frontier Communications job description. “We’re in search of the ones who know the quotes ('PIVOT!'), the hilarious scenarios (the beef in the trifle; the Holiday Armadillo), and all the little details (exactly how many sisters does Joey have? What is Chandler’s job?) that make the show the tried and true classic it is.”
The job application is straightforward, asking for your personal details, along with two Friends-oriented questions. When you’re asked, “Who is your favorite Friends characters?” a drop-down menu give you five expected answers, and Gunther too! But then, 100 words are needed to answer, “Who do you think was right about The Break—Rachel or Ross? Why?” And for bonus points, you'll be encouraged to include a 1- to 3-minute video in which you can really make the judges feel your passion for the position.
The complete prize includes:
- $1,000 to spend as you please
- A year-long Netflix subscription or a Visa gift card of the same value if you’re already subscribed
- A Friends fun pack: a t-shirt, Central Perk mug, popcorn, treats
Once the Frontier Communications job application closes on September 3, a decision will be made, and the Friends fan will be notified by email on September 10 with more detailed instructions about their new gig.
