HGTV viewers may have only just started watching Season 9 of Flip or Flop, but it’s clear this one is unlike any other. In a sneak peek of tonight’s new episode, “Bankrupt Flip,” Tarek El Moussa and Christina Anstead come across a great deal for an Anaheim house. The duo works fast to lock it in, even putting in an offer without seeing the inside, but that’s the least of their worries.
It quickly becomes apparent that the backyard is in need of serious attention, and while touring the property and brainstorming about what needs to get done, the HGTV stars find themselves in a battle over a retro pool slide.
“I think it would be cool to keep the slide,” Christina says in the clip above. “I actually have a cool idea for that,” agrees the contractor, but Tarek is not having it, saying, “What are you guys talking about?! We’re not keeping that slide.”
To settle the debate over the blue metal slide, Tarek and Christina end up battling it out in a rock, paper, scissors match, with the winner earning the right to decide whether or not the backyard accessory stays.
Ultimately, Christina crushes her ex-husband: “Tarek thinks he’s the rock, paper, scissors champ…But guess what? Today he went down and we’re keeping that cool retro slide.”
Watch the complete $22,000 backyard makeover tonight on HGTV's Flip or Flop at 9 p.m. ET.
