Petco has always been more than where the pets go. The furry favorite has offered grooming services, training workshops, and plenty of toys for good boys for more than 50 years, and now, the brand's doubling down on its commitment to pet health with a new artificial-free policy. That means it won't sell treats and foods with artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
To promote the new initiative, Petco is giving pet owners the chance to swap out their old food for a preservative-free bag of chow this weekend. The trade-in is available for cats or dogs and comes free with a nutrition consultation May 18th and 19th. The consultation will feature all of the information Petco has gathered from the team of vets, AAFCO and FDA experts who chose which products to keep and which new brands to bring on as they work on this new phase of pet health.
To claim a bag of pet food, bring in a 6-pound bag of dog food or a 4-pound bag of cat food (up to three cat cans also accepted) to a nearby Petco or Petco Unleashed. The promotion is limited to 1 bag per species, so multi-pet households can take advantage of the deal for both dogs and cats. Quantity is limited, and you must be a member of the system to participate. The program is free and offers point incentives to frequent customers and those who donate to pet-friendly causes.
