Get ready for maybe the best news you'll hear all week: Angela Lansbury is on board for a new . Though the show has now technically been off the air for more than 20 years, it's in re-runs so often that it kind of feels as though it never went away — and now that literally everything is getting a TV revival, could we see Lansbury play Jessica Fletcher one more time?
"[Murder, She Wrote] was first seen on television in September 1984, with a two-hour pilot and it was an immediate success," Lansbury told Irish newspaper The Sunday Post (via ). "I was amazed at how successful it was. I never believed it would run for 12 years. I was in genuine tears during my last scene."
Lansbury's just as attached to her time as the mystery writer-turned-amateur detective as you are. "Jessica Fletcher had become so much a part of my life, it was difficult to come to terms with it being all over. Having said that, there have been some two-hour specials since we stopped in 1996 and I wouldn't be surprised if we got together just one more time." The show did return for four TV movies — and NBC proposed a reboot back in 2014 starring Octavia Spencer, only to before a pilot was even filmed. Fingers crossed for better luck now that Lansbury's on board!
