Out with the cool, vibrant colors of 2018, in with the warm earthy hues of 2019—at least that's what Sherwin-Williams says as they say so long to 2018's Oceanside and welcome as their 2019 Color of the Year.
Cavern Clay is "A warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots...a nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest," the paint company's press release states. Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing for Sherwin-Williams even goes as far as to say that the company believes 2019 will be a "renaissance of the 1970s."
Harking back to the '70s, Cavern Clay screams carefree and simple, yet sophisticated. Wadden shares that since more and more "spaces like boutique hotels, restaurants, and even offices are making an effort to create photo-friendly areas that are Instagrammable," Cavern Clay is the perfect solution.
Good news is, it pairs well with everything from leather, woodgrains, and balanced neutrals to brighter tiles, blues, greens, and whites. Needless to say, it's versatile, cozy, and sophisticated no matter what furniture and decor it complements.
