And it's all down to the ancient art of Feng Shui. Speaking to lifestyle website MyDomaine, Feng Shui expert Laura Cerrano insists that many of us are guilty of a design flaw that could impact the quality of our sleep.
Apparently, one of the most important principles to follow when laying out your bedroom is to make sure that there is an equal distance on either side of your . The reason? "This is symbolic of creating equal space for you and your partner," says Cerrano.

As well as this, you should apparently avoid having your bed pushed up against the wall. Of course, this may prove tricky is space is limited, but Cerrano insists that even an inch will make a huge difference.
When it comes to bedroom accessories, she also recommends having two bedside tables with lamps on them for balance — again, if you have the room.
