If you've ever moved from one home to another, you know the struggle that is getting your furniture from Point A to Point B. Whether you live in a big house or a tiny third floor walk-up in the city, there's really no easy way to move a sofa into your new space. So, what if you could have a sofa that's lightweight and easy to carry that also folds up into a box and can be assembled in minutes? That's what the creators of hope to make a reality.
Officially launching on Kickstarter today, Elephant in a Box is a portable sofa that uses honeycomb technology (yep, informed by bee homes) to make it both lightweight and foldable—while still remaining durable (it can hold up to 400 times its weight) and cozy at the same time. It doesn't require any tools to assemble or disassemble it, and can be put together by just one person in under five minutes. Handy, right?
Elephant in a Box project on Kickstarter
Elephant in a Box comes in three colors: Light gray, dark gray, and dark blue. It has a Kickstarter goal of $25,000 with 29 days to go, and while it's not fully-funded just yet (it did just launch, after all!) early backers can pre-order the sofa for just 44 percent of its future retail price at $499. There's also a coordinating ottoman available for $119 for early backers. Delivery for Kickstarter backers is listed at September 2019, and if you back now, you'll also get a 30-day trial.
